BLANK

I sat down an hour ago to put down some thoughts. I have been unable to put much together. I have a big lack of concentration. I need to make a list of things to take. Time is running short. I am going to bed and watch the replay of Ironman Kona, which always inspires me.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

SUNDAY : RUN : 10 MILES
MONDAY: WALK
TUESDAY : RUN : 30 MIN.

It's the final days before the PIG. My 10 miler on Sunday was good. Not great. Everything that I can do to train is in the books. Taper madness has set in. Today I spent 90 minutes getting together training and goal to look forward to for the rest of the year. Because I'm a nerd, I printed them up and put everything in a binder with dividers.

I am looking forward to the weekend. I haven't been to Cincinnati in a couple of years. It's always good to be back in Ohio. Depending on how I feel on Sunday, I might go see my dad.

I am having a hard time gettting my sleep in. I keep waking up with excitement. I have not posted much because ,it's hard to explain how I feel.

CALM BEFORE THE PIG

THURSDAY: RUN 30 min.
FRIDAY: OFF
SATURDAY: ROAD BIKE 60 MIN.
The morning was indescribably awesome. I knew tomorrow would be a ten mile run. My last big run before the PIG. I wanted to get out the and enjoy the day. I grabbed SILVER , my Trek road bike and took off. I felt a relaxing calm come over me and I knew everything with the marathon would be ok. I had alot to look forward to this year. I have decided after the PIG to switch to duathlons for the rest of the season. I love to bike as much as the run. I also am getting excited to look forward to the Galena Tri/DU which is 2 weeks after the PIG. I also have several other plans in the works for the year which I will be excited to write about after the PIG also.
Waddling after an awesome ride.............

PANIC ATTACK

ELLIPTICAL : 30 MIN.

About 8 pm, the panic set in. I was so busy that I didn't go out and run or do anything. It hit me that I'm running a marathon in 11 days. It was pouring down rain. No running outside. I quickly ran upstairs and changed. I'm goin to the gym. My hubby looked at me strangely but not a word was said. When I was walking up the stairs to the second floor at the gym, my legs were tired and heavy. I realized a run on the treadmill was not the best idea. I headed for the elliptical machine and did a light 30 min. workout. My legs and I both felt better. I know that my training is done but just for that moment, I had a panic attack.

GOOD ADVICE

SUNDAY : ZERO
MONDAY: RUN / 45 min.
TUESDAY : SPIN / 60 min.

Tonight was the last spin class before the PIG. It was a good workout. My legs were really tired. The best part of the night was talking to Mary( the instructor and friend) after class. Her background is that she has done marathons and currently is involved in adventure expedition racing. She is training for Moab in October. He advice to me is to remember a huge part of the marathon is mental. From now until the PIG taper physically but ramp up the mental training. Being postive with no doubts is crucial. I never thought of it that way but I believe it's true.

5K PREDICTOR

RUN: 5K / 33:35 / AVE PACE 10:48
MILE 1 = 11:11
MILE 2 = 10:51
MILE 3 = 10:28
MILE .1= 9:14

It was a perfect day for running! The temp. was around 50 and the sun was shining. I hate 5K races. But I wanted to get my one for the year out of the way now and see where I was at. My goal was to break 35:00. I was nervous if I could do that. My pace has been very slow with my long runs.

I wore my Garmin to keep an eye on my pace because I tend not to stay focused. The race started and I quickly fell to the back. I looked at my watch and I was at 11:08 pace. I felt like I couldn't settle in. After I passed one mile I looked at my pace and it was 13:40. I had lost focus. It was time to come out of the comfort zone and regroup. I keep and eye on my pace the rest of the way not to go over 11:00. I was shocked and happy at my time when I finished. Better than expected.

When I got home ,just out of curiosity, I plugged my time in some predictors to see what they said for my marathon. Here are the results:
PREDICTOR = MARATHON TIME
AGE GRADING = 5:17:26
VO2MAX = 5:15:53
RIEGEL FORMULA = 5:22:06
PURDY FORMULA = 6:03:20
MCMILLAN RUNNING = 5:27:24
Something to think about for sure. I am going with Purdy.
