WAKE UP CALL

Sometimes in life you get a wake up call. That has recently happened to me. I went to the doctor last week. My work-up was abnormal. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and pre-diabetic syndrome. I felt like my working out 6-7 hours a week would make me healthy. It was a reality check. I am now on a low sodium, low sugar, and low cholesterol diet. Also I cut out the caffeine last week.

I have always told my kids that I I was going to love to 100 just to give them a hard time. I will too. It's just going to take aliitle more work than I had planned. I have the Waterloo Duathlon in Michigan this week-end. I am just goin to take it easy because I am not sure how my diet changes will affect me. I am just glad to go do it and enjoy the day.

Run : 2.0 miles
Waddling to watch the ITU triathlon on TV...............

SWEET SPIN

Tonight , I took a friend with me to spin class. She had done it once before -years ago. She just couldn't imagine that it could be so tough. I emailed my friend ,who was the instructor and told her to bring it on and why. She brought it!!! The theme was-"Nothing is sweeter than a powerful climber." The rest of the week I'll take it easy. I have a duathlon on Sunday in Michigan.

Spin: 1 hour

Waddling to a bedtime snack.

RECAP OF VACATION WEEK

As always, vacation weeks fly by too fast. This was no different. The best part wwas having my dad here. It was the first time since high school many years ago that we had spent a week together. I want to write a recap of the week just for my memory.

Sunday- I drove back from Ohio with Bino and my dad(Pa).

Monday- Bino took Pa to breakfast. My hubby had an EMG at the hospital which turned out negative. After the test , we stopped on the way home at the bicycle shop. I saw a Trek Tri bike that I loved. I had a doctor appointment in the afternoon. I found out that my blood pressure was high and it was looking like that I am diabetic. They ordered a fasting blood test for tomorrow. We took Pa to Cold Stone Creamery for an ice cream after dinner.

Tuesday- I went early and had my blood drawn. Afterword, Pa , Bino and I went to Bob Evans for breakfast. When we got home ,my hubby told me we were going to the bike store and getting that Tri bike that I had my eyes on for my early birthday present. We spent the day there. For dinner , we went to my MIL's house for a family dinner.
Wednesday- I started my day with a 30 mile bike ride with my friend Ronda. While I was biking- Hubby, Bino, and Pa went fishing. In the evening, all of us sat out and watched the fireworks from the driveway.

Thursday - Bino, Pa, and I went to Hidden Lakes. While they were fishing, I got a short run in. It was a perfect morning.

In the afternoon, I took Pa to see my hospital where I work , the kids shool, and other points of interest.

Friday- I got up early and went on an 8 mile run. I got home to find Pa on the couch with Jerry watching TV.

In the evening our neighborhood had a big block party. it was fun for Pa to meet everyone. As usual , the police did stop by around 10.

Saturday- I drove Pa back home to Ohio. the week went so fast.

Sunday - I drove back from Ohio in the morning. Tomorrow is work! UGH. I did a 3 mile easy run this evening.

Waddling back to work after a great week off......................

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

I've been so busy that I haven't updated things. On Tuesday my hubby took me to Bicylcles,Etc. to look at bikes. I wanted to get a tri bike for my duathlons by the end of the year. I fell in love with the Trek Equinox. While I was taking it for a test drive - it was mine!!! My hubby bought me an early birthday present.

That's when the fun begun. Getting fitted for the bike. Russ , the owner's son, worked with me. He adjusted things while I was riding on a trainer. My seat was changed, a different stem put on, aerobars adjusted and he even adjusted the clips in my shoes. I then picked out a new helmet, gloves, and shirt. Of course they matched the bike. My hubby and I went to lunch and my bike was completed. I had the best experience. Amazing customer service!!
Thanks also to Fred who was alot of fun to talk to while we were there. My hubby and Russ also came to terms about the bike shop being actively supported by my Husband's Drag Race team "Corbin / Dean Racing". Look for future photos of Bicycle Etc's graphic's on my hubby's Mustang that he drag races. It was definitely a good day had by all. My new bike was named Sugar.
Today , I went to Plainfield for the Joliet Bicycle Club ride. Sugar got to go for her first ride. I was planning on going 45. I ran into my friend Ronda , who I did this ride with last year, she was doing 30. I chose to back down the miles and enjoyed riding with a friend. Sugar did great.

LOOKING INTO JULY

Got home this afternoon with dad from Ohio. Bino just got his driver's permit so he helped alot with the driving. I can't remember the last time that we spent a week together. I don't know who is more excited about it. I have alot planned for the week ahead ending with a big block party on Friday night.
On our way through Indiana, we stopped in Fort Wayne to pick up one of the 4ths necessities-fireworks. Bino and Pa had alot of fun picking them out. We have a great assortment.

Since I am off this week, I hope to get alittle extra training in. June's totals were lower than I wanted but not bad. July needs to step it up alittle. I have my next Du in 2 weeks in Michigan. My biggest problem continues to be the slowness of my run.
June Monthly totals:
B: 145.48 Mi - 12h 8m
R: 44.56 Mi - 10h 9m

Waddling to sit on the patio with my dad..............

ON VACATION

For the first time in years, I took off a week for vacation. I am so excited! The best part is that today I am driving to my dad's house in Ohio to pick him up and bring him back for a week with us. YEAH! I am looking forward to a great week off with photos to share.

I planned a long run this morning but stayed up way too late so dropped it down to a 3 miler. The weather was perfect and I felt good.

Waddling to Ohio......................
