MARATHON REFLECTION

  • Always respect the distance no matter how well trained you feel you are.
  • I will run another marathon next year- not Chicago but somewhere were the time limit is at least 7 hours.
  • It is all about the training .
  • I love to be out there and face the challenge.
  • The best -my friends ran and finished their first marathon and celebrated after the race.
  • The Flying Pig is in my future.
  • Examining problems- my weight (must lose 30 pounds before next marathon), my shoes, possible need for stability shoes after injury, more cross training, and the most important CORE STRENGTH.
  • Most importantly somewhere in there I found my strength to finish.

Thank you God for the Day!

MARATHON-GOOD,BAD BUT MOSTLY UGLY

RUN/WALK: 26.2MILES /6:44

The Good: My 3 running friends did their first marathon and had a great day! They felt good and finished in an awesome time. For me -I finished and was only 6 minutes off of last year's time.

The Bad: I was on the way to a great time and at 22 it felt like there was a knife in my knee.

The Ugly: I was unable to run after 22 and had to walk the rest of the way. At 26.0 I ran again but it was very painful. There was no way I was going to walk across the finish.

One of my roughest days ever-time for rest and reassessing my running but no quiting!!!!!I will run another marathon but not Chicago.
