SATURDAY- 60 MIN SPINNING
SUNDAY- 30 MIN TREADMILL- INCLINE
MONDAY- 60 MIN SPINNING

Okay- so I havn't kept up on my blogging but I'm back. The run I did on Sunday felt exceptionally well. I think the spinnning is making a big difference. With the cold weather -I have been staying inside. My first race planned is in April so I will be out no later than March 1. For the first time in December I have actually kept training of some kind. Of course my New Year's resolution is to lose weght but I think it will happen. Weights and spinning will play a large part of my new training.

SPIN INTERVALS

SPINNING: 60 MIN

Tonight Tony did intervals with very little recovery. The first 20 minutes was tough but then I settled in. I feel really good about this class. I might try a double one day. Looking at the training year ahead I am getting motivated.

SPINNING AGAIN

SPINNING : 60 MIN/ AVE HR 149/ MAX 169

Felt really good. Could have done more. I am planning 2006 and feel spinning will be a new element in my training. I don't know that it will help with my speed but I know it will improve the endurance. Legs were not tired.

NEW EXPERIENCE - SPINNING

SPINNING : 60 MINS.

I took my first spinning class today. I was afraid I wouldn't finish. I did finish and I kept up with everyone. I think during the week I could run up and spin then run home. That would be an excellent mid week workout. I am starting to feel alittle sore - tomorrow will be interesting.

JUST A WEIRD RUN

RUN: NO TIME - NO MILES

Really I didn't want to run. It took me an hour to get out the door. I promised if I went I would only do 2. Then I took the turn at 1 the sky was getting darker but I thought I would go for the 6. At the turn to decide 3 or 6 my brand new watch died. Well to me that was an omen. turn to home. Dakota was voting for the 6. But home we headed. No idea of want the time or miles were but at least I got out the door. Now I have to do something Sunday

Friday, November 04, 2005

TGIF RUN

RUN: 2.1MILES/ 26:24 MIN/ AVE PACE 12:33/ AVE HR 149-MAX 177

All those numbers are nice but what do they all mean??? All I know is it was a great run with Dakota and the weather was sunny and 65. Perfect November Day

Tomorrow I'll be spending the day at the hospital- my husband is having neck surgery. I guess I got carried away with the work -out and really tried to wear my self out. I was exhausted by the time STRONG finished. So I rewarded my self with Mc Donald's. That makes sense doesn't it!! Tomorrow will be a better day.

LONG DAY-PEACEFUL RUN

RUN: 2.1MILES/ TREE INTERVALS/ AVE PACE 12:33/ MAX PACE 8:43

It was a much needed quiet time at the end of a day spent at the hospital with my husband having tests run. It gave me a chance to refocus and find a quiet place. The intervals helped and the run seemed to end too quickly but I was tired.

LONGER RUN

RUN: 6.0 MILES / 1:20 / 4:1/ AVE PACE:13:37

Long, slow, distance today. Dakota and I went out -the temperature was a brisk 32. I really enjoy this time of year. I overdressed alittle but have not got the hang of the cooler temps yet.
I felt good at the end and could heve went farther but it's nice to relax this time of year.

Thursday, October 27, 2005

LOVIN THE RUN

RUN: 2.1 MILES / 28:04

Easy run just to enjoy a fall evening. The sun had just set , the temperature was comfortable, and it was quiet. I didn't take my MP3 but took Dakota. Again all the reasons i love to run come back to me. Not the races but the peace you can find when you are out there. Thanks God for a great evening!

WEIGHTS AGAIN BUT THE SOX WON

STRONG: WEIGHTS: 60 MIN.

COMBINATION WORK-OUT

RUN: TREAMILL: 15 MIN. /1.2 MILES
STAIRCLIMBER: 15 MIN./ 1.0 MILES / 47 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS
WALK: TREAMILL: 10 MIN./ 0.5 MILES

40 MIN./ 2.7 MILES

I went to the club and tried something different. It was a very good workout and I wasn't exhausted or too sore. I'll add to the stairclimber the next time. Actually I really am enjoying the change of pace. At least 1-2 times a week I want to do stairs or intervals.

Monday, October 24, 2005

STRONGER

STRONG(WEIGHTS) : 60 MON.

I used heavier weights tonight and we had a different teacher so it was a tough work-out . I really felt good when I was done. I have alot of work-out options with the marathon past. I would like to start doing the stairclimber 1-2 times per week and add toughr intervals. Also more elliptical for the winter until January. I guess I'll just play it by ear and see how it goes.

CHANGING PLANS

E.T. : 30 MINUTES

When I got up this AM my plan was to run 2 with Dakota. But the really cold air and rain quickly mad me chang to indoors on the elliptical. I was a nice work out.

Saturday, October 22, 2005

Longer Run

RUN: 5.25 MILES/ 73MINUTES / 4:1

Dakota and I got up and went out. It was his first long run and mine since the marathon. I wanted to go 5-6 because I was unsure of the knee. It felt good and the weather was 55 and cloudy. Trying to plan alot of crosstraing for the next 2 monthes and then run alittle harder in January. Flying Pig here I come.

Thursday, October 20, 2005

WORK-OUT AT WORK

ET (ELLIPTICAL TRAINER) : 30 MIN.

Today I went down to work out at lunch with the plan to do 20 minutes and run 2 after work. My legs were tired and I realized this would be the workout for the day so I increased my time to 30 minutes. Felt good but legs are heavy. Thinking about the weekend will try to run 6 at 4:1.

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

CROSS-TRAINING

STRONG(WEIGHTS) : 60 MINUTES

Great class- I wasn't sore at all from Monday so I upped my weights alittle. What a great work-out and I love the instructor. I hope this makes a diffence in my core strength.

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

TREE INTERVALS

RUN: 2 MILES/TREES 5:2/ 25:57MIN

IT'S A NEW DAY!

ET: 20 MIN

Well ,I think I've finally put the marathon behind me. Focus on the future not the past. Had a very good work out day. I began a new weight class-on Mon. & Weds. I hope to lose weight and see and improvement . Looking at the calendar for next year. So far Flying Pig & Columbus Marathon.

Sunday, October 16, 2005

TEST RUN

RUN: 2.0MILES /27:12MIN.

It was a beautiful day and I could not resist testing my knee. So Dakota and I ran 2 miles. Felt great except for the last block I walked it in. When it starts to hurt walk. I will try for an easy running week.

Saturday, October 15, 2005

REGROUPING

ZERO

MARATHON REFLECTION

  • Always respect the distance no matter how well trained you feel you are.
  • I will run another marathon next year- not Chicago but somewhere were the time limit is at least 7 hours.
  • It is all about the training .
  • I love to be out there and face the challenge.
  • The best -my friends ran and finished their first marathon and celebrated after the race.
  • The Flying Pig is in my future.
  • Examining problems- my weight (must lose 30 pounds before next marathon), my shoes, possible need for stability shoes after injury, more cross training, and the most important CORE STRENGTH.
  • Most importantly somewhere in there I found my strength to finish.

Thank you God for the Day!

MARATHON-GOOD,BAD BUT MOSTLY UGLY

RUN/WALK: 26.2MILES /6:44

The Good: My 3 running friends did their first marathon and had a great day! They felt good and finished in an awesome time. For me -I finished and was only 6 minutes off of last year's time.

The Bad: I was on the way to a great time and at 22 it felt like there was a knife in my knee.

The Ugly: I was unable to run after 22 and had to walk the rest of the way. At 26.0 I ran again but it was very painful. There was no way I was going to walk across the finish.

One of my roughest days ever-time for rest and reassessing my running but no quiting!!!!!I will run another marathon but not Chicago.

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

REST AGAIN

ZERO

Really getting antsy to run this and go on. Today I made reservations for Disney in Jan. and am planning to do the flying pig in May. Need to pack everything on Friday-I finally found my chip.

TAPERING TWO

RUN: 2 MILES/ SLOW

Thanks to the unusually hot, humid weather my 2 miles was extremely slow. But considering just right. I will run another 2 on Thursday then rest. The nerves are starting to set in. Thank heaven I'm off on Friday.

WEEKEND BEFORE MARATHON

FRIDAY: REST
SATURDAY: REST
SUNDAY: 2 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES-NO DISTANCE OR PACE

I had a good run on Sunday. Very unfocused though. Taper madness has hit! I went to IKEA and decided to buy half the store. So my house is a mess as I am trying to do some redecorating. At least I am very distracted from worrying about the marathon. Next week at this time it will be done and I will focus on post race plans

EASY RUN

RUN: 2.0MILES / NO TIME
GRASS CUTTING: 30 MIN.

What a nice fall evening. I took Dakota and went out for a nice easy run. I felt great. Tapering is tough but so important.

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

TREADMILL NIGHT

RUN: ( 40MINS.) 5 W/U-30MIN INTERVALS- 5 C/D

Cool evening but rainy. So I went on the tradmill at the gym. Spent too much time watching everyone else and trying to figure out why they run so much faster for so long. I am really getting excited about the marathon and can't wait. Now that the training is done weather and the outfit becomes a concern.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

DAY TO REST

I had a wonderful day. my husband got me a new watch for the marathon and the family went out for a nice dinner. Continue tapering for marathon.

FALL IS HERE!!!!!!

RUN: 2 MILES

What a perfect evening. Cool temps and fresh air. I felt good and legs are okay.

Sunday, September 25, 2005

LOT OF REST THEN A 5K

RUN: 5K /34:30 (pr)

Today was the annual Plainfield 5k. Weather was 70 and 100% humidity. We ran a mile before the start and we were covered with sweat. mile 1 = 11:20 /mile 2 = 11:10/ mile 3= 10:45/ total 34:30. Last year I ran 34:40 so it was a little better. I felt good the entire time and probably could have pushed harder. I left a friend that was in trouble out there- feel bad but her husband was with her.

Need to get in a few miles this week with around a 10 on the weekend. 13 days to go!

Thursday, September 22, 2005

OFF DAY

NOTHING

Another one of those days where it just doesn't happen. Hopefully I'll get 1 more run in before the 5K Sunday.

Wednesday, September 21, 2005

TREADMILL AGAIN

RUN: 40 MIN. TREADMILL / SOME PICKUPS

It was a very hot evening so I went to the gym and ran on the treadmill. I am not sure exactly how long I ran because on the tv was a plane trying to land with a broken landing gear. I was glued to the tv and just kept going. The pilot though did an amazing good getting the plane down.

WHAT A WASTE!

TUESDAY : NOTHING- 0 MILES

Did you ever have one of those nights where everything goes out of the plan? By the time 7pm came I was so pissed- I decided I would just show everyone and not run! So I sat down on the couch and watched the biggest loser and ate 2 poptarts(brown sugar cinnamon) and drank a large glass of milk. So who did I end affecting- only me! Even though I still had time to do something -I stayed on the couch.

Monday, September 19, 2005

20 DAYS TO GO!!!!

RUN : WARMUP 5 MIN/ 35MIN. TREADMILL
ELLIPTICAL: 10MIN.

Did you ever feel things were going too good? That is what I'm going through. I am looking forward to the marathon and legs are feeling good.

WEEKEND CATCH-UP

THURSDAY: NO TIME / GRASS CUTTING 25 MIN.

FRIDAY: FLY TO OHIO-RUNNER EXPO

SATURDAY: 13.1 USAF MARATHON/ 2:51(PR)/ 4:1 RATIO / 13:08 PACE

When I signed up for this it was meant to be a chance to go home and get a training run in. I told myself I would take it easy!! LOL! Well after the first 2 miles were uphill then my patriotism kicked in there became nothing easy about this run. I loved the support on the course. And my dad for the first time saw me finish a race. On days like this you have to stop and thank God because you feel like the luckiest person in the world.

SUNDAY : REST AND TRAVEL

Wednesday, September 14, 2005

COOLER AND TREE INTERVALS

RUN: 2MILES/ TREE INTERVALS / 5:2

I'm starting to worry that things are going so well. The tamp was 72 and perfect. I really feel that these pickups are starting to make a difference. Now to get ready for the weekend- may not run Thurs/ flight day on Friday/ 815 Saturday is the 1/2 with temperatures around 60. I am looking forward to see my dad alot. But I wish DeeDee was going with me- it will be strange now alone.

Waddling to the weekend!!!!!!!!!!

Forced Rest

REST

Today became a day off due to a busy schedule. By the time I got home at 9pm I was exhausted. Tomorrow I really need to run with the half marathon this weekend.

Monday, September 12, 2005

NEW FITNESS

RUN : TREADMILL/ 5 WARMUP-30 RUN-5 COOLDOWN (40MINS.)

I just got a membership at a new fitness club. Being only 26days from the marathon it is very frustating not to get carried away with the new classes. I did go and run on the treadmill while the rest of the family enjoyed other things! I will get my chance after Oct. 9th.

Saturday, September 10, 2005

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

RUN: 22 MILES/ 5:05 HRS./AVE PACE 13:40/ 1/2 MARATHON TIME 2:52/ RATIO 4:1

Well just as I thought- today was going to be interesting.

THE GOOD: I finished 22 miles. I finished with a good average pace. I rewarded myself with a leg massage by Sylvia and my legs felt great.

THE BAD: The weather was 20 degrees above normal. Too Hot. My pace was too fast at the beginning. Legs were cramping at the end.

THE UGLY: I ran out of water at 15 miles. I had to buy some at 19 in an airconditioned store.
Then walked alot for 2 miles because of leg cramps.

Friday, September 09, 2005

BAD PREP

X-TRAIN : 25 MIN GRASS CUTTING

I am alittle worried about tomorrow's long run. I need to run 22 and it will be close to 90. My water intake was less than it should be, I ate chinese and Mc Donalds. Brian drank my Gatorade. And I have NO Smart Water! I hope to get up early but really feel unprepared. This will be my last long run before the Marathon- say a prayer!

Thursday, September 08, 2005

TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE

WEDS: WALK/ 30MIN.

THURS: RUN/ 2 MILES/ NO TIME

The theme for the run "Two Tickets to Paradise". I don't know why but I put it on repeat. Dakota and I had a great run with an excellent pace. felt good. The weather was upper 80's and humid. I'm getting ready for 22 on Saturday.

Tuesday, September 06, 2005

RECOVERY RUN

MONDAY: REST

TUESDAY : RECOVERY RUN / 2 MILES / NO TIME

I understand now the meaning of recovery run. My legs felt like weights and my quads were very sore. Other than than I felt good-not too tired. Saturday is my LAST long run before the marathon . It will hopefully be 22-24 miles. I need to take it easy this week. Next week is the USAF half-marathon so I also need to prep for that.

Sunday, September 04, 2005

NEW RATIO = GREAT RUN

RUN: 22 MILES / 4:1 / 4:59HRS./ 13:28 AVE PACE

If only today could have been the marathon!!! Everything fell into place. Got up 5:30am ate an egg and cheese sandwich then a banana. Then put on all my technical geek geer(2 watches, mp3 player, GPS, and loaded fuel belt. After reading Galloway ,I changed my ratio from 5:1 to 4:1. I felt really good. I kept looking at my watches-both of them and I stayed on a 13 minute pace. My time at 13.1 was 2:57(what I ran at Indy) I thought I was heading for a crash but felt good until the end.

Saturday, September 03, 2005

RESTING DAYS

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY: REST

Beautiful weather but I need to rest for a long run of 22 on Sunday. I think I am going to run on the canal again but I'm not positive.

Thursday, September 01, 2005

WHITE WINGED DOVE

RUN: 2 MILES-NO TIME

I hate to say it but it was another good run. Felt good and strong. Beautiful sunset. My theme was the song "White Winged Dove" by Stevie Nicks. Dakota and I really cruised along tonight.

Looking ahead to the weekend- Sunday is a 5 1/2 hour run. Need to start the prep. Should be good weather then only a 6 hour run before the marathon.

Wednesday, August 31, 2005

TREE INTERVALS AND GOOSE POOP

RUN: 2 MILES/ 6:2 TREES

Another good run. Dakota loves doing the tree interval but there was lots of goose poop on the sidewalk so it added another perspective to the intervals. The temp was about 70 and it felt like a good workout- I could have went farther but with a long run this weekend ,I didn't want to overdo it.

I'm focusing now on the half that is in 2 weeks in Ohio. At this point in the training I know how critical it is to stay healthy and get to the starting line.

Tuesday, August 30, 2005

SUPERB SUNSET RUN

RUN: 3MILES

What a beautiful sunset! Dakota and I went out and ran a awesome 3 miles. We both clicked well and I felt great. I guess that rest day paid off. The temp was 65 and a nice breeze. This was absolutely one of those nights that you remember why you run and love it!

Monday, August 29, 2005

TRAINING FLEXIBILITY

WALK: 45 MIN

Tonight was the perfect evening to run but it was supposed to be a rest day. I got dressed to go run. Dakota and I headed out the door to run 2. After about 1 block, I realized why it should be a rest day after a long run. My legs felt like weights and were tired. I started walking and did a 45 min. brisk walk. It's not always what you plan to do when you walk out that door. Listen to your body.

Sunday, August 28, 2005

WEEK RECAP

MONDAY: REST
TUESDAY: 3 MILES
WEDNESDAY: 2 MILES
THURSDAY: 2 MILES
FRIDAY: 45 MIN. GRASS CUTTING
SATURDAY: REST
SUNDAY: 11 MILES

TECHNOLOGICAL DIFFICULTIES

RUN : 2 AND 1/2 HOURS -5:1 - 11 MILES: AVE. PACE 13:40

What a beautiful morning. Only 65 and sun. The first 2-3 miles I spent working on my GPS and watch finally got it to work. Then the next 3 miles I missed my interval times beeping and trying to figure out why my time and intervals were different. Aha my interval was set to 5:0. after all that distraction -I couldn't believe how far I'd gone.(6 miles) The last 5 went without problem and I felt great.

It was nice having the shorter run this weekend. I am training to figure my final training plans for the marathon 6 weeks to go!!!

Saturday, August 27, 2005

WEEKEND AHEAD

FRIDAY: 45 MIN / GRASS CUTTING

SATURDAY: REST

I am getting ready for a recovery, short run on Sunday. I plan to run 2 and 1/2 hours which is half of last weeks long run.

Thursday, August 25, 2005

TIME FOR ME

RUN : 2 MILES/ NO TIME

After a very busy day, it was after 8pm when I went out to run. The sun had just set and it was quiet and peaceful. Even Dakota was laid back. It gave me a chance to reflect on my day which had a lot of lows in it- my 12 year old patient passed away and I had a chance to talk to her father. It is so important to grab and appreciate every moment in life. As I waddled home I thanked God for my 2 kids.

Wednesday, August 24, 2005

TREE INTERVALS

RUN: 2 MILES /TREE INTERVALS 5:1 TREES

Good evening- 70 and sun. Dakota and I ran well together tonight. No tugging or pulling. I felt good doing pickups and it was a good workout.

Tuesday, August 23, 2005

RUNNER'S TROTS

RUN: 3(2.5) MILES/ 7:1

After indulging in a great lunch with dessert, tonight's run ended with the last half mile waddling home because the dreaded runner's trots were coming. The whole way I swore never to eat like that again and cut back on my caffeine. We'll see how I do! It's quite the experience and I' sure my neighbors had a chuckle!!!!

Monday, August 22, 2005

FORCED REST DAY

REST: 0 ANYTHING

Today was an absolutely perfect day that God gave us. I needed it to be a rest day after the weekend. I almost started out the door 10 times but something kept coming up for me to do. So whether I wanted to or not it became an off day. Tomorrow is going to be the same weather I'll definitely get out- maybe tree intervals!

Sunday, August 21, 2005

SCHEDULE FLEXIBILITY

SATURDAY: CROSS TRAIN / CUT GRASS / 35 MIN.

I think grass cutting should be considered crosstraining. you are walking consistant with resistance for a period of time. Today I am rethinking my run for tomorrow. Good weather/ not on call/ feeling good are making me think of 5 hour long run.

SUNDAY : RUN/ 5 HOURS / 5:1 / APPROX 20 MILES

I decided to take advantage of the factors to do a long run. I went to the I & M again and the weather was perfect. I felt good the whole run except at the end -I was out of water for 2 miles. The rest of the day I felt good also. I think for me it was a good move to run long. That's why it's important to listen to your body and your gut feelings of what to do.

Friday, August 19, 2005

WEEK-END PREP

REST

Getting ready for the weekend. How tempting it is with the weather on Sunday only being 70 and cool to run long again. I never know what exactly I'll run until I do it. I told my friend -I would meet her on Sunday for a ten miler. That would probably be the best. I always worry I am so slow....

I need to get my supplies- water/ gatorad/ energice and bananas.

Thursday, August 18, 2005

TREE INTERVALS

RUN : 2 MILES / NO TIME/ PICKUPS- 4TREES:2TREES

I had alot of energy tonight for some reason and thought Dakota and I would run some intervals. We ran fast for 4 trees then slow for 2. It felt like a good workout. Maybe I will add this to every weeks running schedule.

Now it's time to look forward to the weekend. I have to run on Sunday because of school starting there are too many things happening on Saturday. This is a shorter weekend -2 and 1/2 hours. I am running from here at home then next weekend hope to go to the canal.

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

GOOD-NIGHT RUN

RUN : 2 miles / no time

After an evening of playing taxi for my kids , I was able to get out and run at 830pm. It was still 70 and humid. But a nice peaceful evening with a beautiful moon. It was the perfect end to the day and one of those runs that makes you suddenly remember why you are out there doing it.

CHICAGO DISTANCE CLASSIC

A great day in Chicago!!!! Aug. 7, 2005

Tuesday, August 16, 2005

GOOSE POOP

RUN : 2 miles / no time

Tonight Dakota and I ran ou 2 mile run. The problem is all the geese and the poop they leave behind. Dakota tries to run and eat as much as he could on the way so my pace was alittle off. Is it goose poops or geese poop? The weather was good at 7pm and I felt good.

THE WEEKEND

Friday: Rest

Today I tried a new course for my long run. I went to the I & M canal in Channahon. My goal was to run 4 1/2 hours. I hoped to start at 6 but ran aliitle behind. I had a bagel and banana for breakfast along with my diet Mountain Dew. I packed my fuel belt for my run. 3 bottles of smart water, 2 bottles of gatorade endurance formula. and 3 energice. Weather was cloudy and 68.

I loved the run!! Perfect weather and what a great place to go. If possible I will do all my long runs from here. I have 3 more long runs before the marathon. The goal : to be injury free from here to then. I ran in to my friend on the trail -she had a great run also. Her first 20 miler -what a high.

DAKOTA-0 WADDLER-1

RUN/ 2MILES / NO TIME

On my shorter runs, unless it is very hot, I take my golden retreiver,Dakota. Last night was a pleasant evening so off we go. He was really fired up. The first mile is always tough for me but with him pulling it was worse. By the second mile , I was pulling him. I relaxed and sort of pushed. When we rounded the corner to home, I was the winner on this night.

Time for a little rest tommorow with the long run of 4 and 1/2 hours this weekend.

NEED TO RECOVER

Elliptical: 20 minutes

Yesterday afternoon, boom it hit! Quad soreness. I've never had it to this extreme before. I guess today will be an off day. I need to continue training well for the marathon but I also need to recover. Only 39 days until my next 1/2 which is three weeks before Chicago. I hope I slow it down enough not to be sore.

This weekend is a 4 and 1/2 hour run. Remember LONG SLOW DISTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT WEEKEND

ORN: CHICAGO DISTANCE CLASSIC/13.1/2:54:55/PACE 13:20/5:1

What a great weekend! I knew it would be good but who would have that it would be so much fun. From shopping to eating to running and eating again, it was awesome.
The run was alittle hotter than I would have liked. I started out the first mile a little quick bu settled into a nice pace. The 5:1 ratio worked well and alot of people around me were doing the same. I was tired the last mile and the hill before the finish seemed huge but when I came around the corner and saw DeeDee and Lauren -I felt great! Today I will bike or elliptical to loosen the quads.

Looking Forward to a great weekend

Last night I ran 2 -it was 90 and very humid. The first mile as always was tough the second mile alot better. I was slow 27:00 but at least the legs were waddling. Then I cut the grass -it took about 45 minutes so it was a good final workout before the weekend.
This weekend is the Chicago Distance Classic on Sunday. My running buddy and I are going down Saturday night and have a great night with pizza and run Sunday Morning. Looking foward to it and the greasy hamburger and fries when we're done.

Lost Night

I went home from work and the plan - to run 2 miles easy. The temperature over 90,cloudy,rainy coming in. Changed to plan B- workout on elliptical for 20-30 minutes. That didn't happen either. Sat down watched TV ,ate ,and went to bed early. I guess I just tapered for Sunday's Half. LOL.

TAPERING

Although I am in training for the marathon, I need to taper this week for the half marathon. Last year I feel like I barely made it. This year I would like to enjoy it more.
I was very sore after the Indy half in May. I think with the miles I have under my belt now, I should feel a little better. Next week will be the final push for the marathon.

Monday's Suck

What a great week-end. I ran 8 on Saturday and the weather was perfect! Sunday I felt so good that I biked for 30 minutes. I need to taper this week for the half marathon on Sunday but that will be hard when you feel good. Haven't checked the weather for Sunday yet. Hopefully cooler. I need to decide if I will run with my fuel belt and MP3. Not much entertainment at this race.
I"ll run 2 tonight and tomorrow then bike then 2 on Thursday.

After the week-end

Last week was a good week for running. I had lost respect for the distance and regained it this week-end. On Saturday I ran/walked about 16 miles. It was a good run. I went early to beat the heat and there was cloud cover most of the run.
Only 79 days until the marathon. I hope I'll be as ready as I want. Next year I need to find a marathon in November!

Tough Tuesday

3 miles/ no time
It was really hot at 6pm(over 90). Ran 3 very slow but felt pretty good at the finish. I want to run long again this weekend but very hot temperatures ahead!!!! This has been a hard summer to run =Next year I want to run a November marathon to cut down on the hot summer miles.

Monday ,Monday

I did 25 minutes on the elliptical yesterday while watching the tou. The legs are tired -I hope to run 2 miles tonight

Tough Run

Today was about one of my toughest runs ever! I made it 14 miles . But the last two were miserable - ran out of water -dehydrated -overheated. I was going for 16 but some days you must be happy with what you can do. My biggest mistake was not drinking enough water the day before. I learned from this one that is for sure

Getting ready for the weekend

Another hot weekend ahead. Tomorrow I am running another long run =3-4 hours. The temperature will be high so I need to start early. The other decision I need to make is where to tun in the heat to gain alittle shade. Today I will elliptical for 20 minutes and drink alot of water for tomorrow.

Day off

Ran out of time yesterday. No running. I am looking forward to a run with my friend today. Then going to the running store and dinner. Can't get any better than that.
A run with a friend can be one of the most motivating things that you do, Finding a pace that works for both of you is a challenge bu well worth it.

WADDLING: After the weekend

The weekend run was a challenge. I ran by time not distance. I ran 3 hours and 15 minutes. My goal is to make it up to a 6 hour run. Yesterday I did 20minutes on the elliptical trainer -my legs were tired. Today if time allows-I will run 2miles. It's rainy but that will feel good

GETTING READY FOR THE WEEKEND

I'm in traing for the chicago distance classic and the marathon. This weekend I'm running my long run of 3 hours. I've decided to try to look at my long runs by amount of time not miles. Last year my marathon time was 6:38. So I want my long training run to be at least 6 hours. Mentally I wonder if this will be easier.
