FIRST LONG(?) RUN

RUN: 60min./ Treadmill /4R:1W / AVE HR=143 / AVE RUN PACE 14:26

Today was my first long run in my marathon training. I know 60 min. isn't a long run to most but considering the time I've been off ,it feels like a good place to start. Next week I'll up it to 75 min. with a longer weekday run of 45 min. I also hope to get to spinning again.

I grabbed a treadmill facing out the window today. The snow looked beautiful. It felt good to sweat when it was only 19 outside. I got to the gym early so it was not crowded yet. I am so excited to be getting back into some sort of a routine.

LOOKIN' LIKE XMAS

I actually am one of the few people who love this kind of weather. I love the freshness in the air when you are out. Do I run in it? NO, But I do go to Lifetime and get a treadmill by the window. I am sort of a wimp about being out there. I don't really mind the cold but it's all that slipping around that I do.

Today I was on the Runner's World Web site.(I had alot of patients cancel.) They have a training tool that gives you the different paces you should do your runs at for different finishing times and distance.

Here is what mine showed to run under a 6:00 marathon--
EASY RUN PACE= 14:27 MIN/MILE
TEMPO RUN PACE= 12:13 MIN/MILE
MAX O2 RUN PACE= 11:05 MIN/MILE
SPEED FORM PACE= 10:18 MIN/MILE
LONG RUN PACE= 14:27-16:06 MIN/MILE
YASSO 800'S PACE= 5:41 MIN/ 800

I have never seen this before. I really am going to try to stick to these and see what happens.

I am still researching heart rate information and training. I had a map test done. My AT is 168. Maximum fat burn is 135. I am setting up the rest of my zones.

IT'S A TURKEY

RUN: 30 MIN. / TREADMILL / AVE HR=142

Three days in a row! I know it won't be four. I actually am feeling pumped that I'm getting back into a routine. I felt good tonight. My heart rate was lower tonight. I think when I'm on the treadmill I run an easier pace.

Looking forward to the weekend,my hubby will be back from Cleveland. I hope to take a spin class and run 60 min. I still have 22 weeks until the marathon so I know I'm ok.

TWO DAYS IN A ROW!

RUN: 30 MIN. / TREADMILL / AVE HR=143,MAX HR= 172

I can't believe that I finally got 2 days in a row. Tonight I opted for the treadmill because of the weather. It was still 60 but with high winds and heavy rain. I wimped out. I did feel good tonight and my heart rate was lower. I am going to try to wear my HR monitor more often and get more info on how to use it in my training.

I am not sure about tomorrow. Chicago just got a winter storm warning. We could see up to 12 inches. Definitely a treadmill time. This weekend I need to get my longer runs to start increasing and get on my way!

LOOKING FORWARD

RUN: 30 MIN. / AVE HR=152

I cam home today and realized the focus must be on the future. My personal and family recovery will take time. Now the task at hand is to focus on training for the PIG and rethink my training plan.

Today it was 65 out and sunny. Certainly not your typical Chicago end of November. I grabbed Dakota who had been stuck at the kennel and went for a run. I could feel the holiday weight gain and lack of running. You have to start somewhere- so here we go! My heart rate seemed a little high but I'll worry about that later. It's time to start logging some miles :)

SAYING GOOD-BYE

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me.. Now I’m free.
I’m following the path that God has laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day:
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way;
I’ve found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remember joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah, yes these things I too shall miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief;
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me…
God wanted me now; He set me free.

Good-bye Dad! I love you and you've gotten your peace!
