NOT MUCH BETTER

Today the news from Ohio was not good. My father-in-law has dyphasia and cannot use his rt arm. The oncologist called me the prognosis. There are always exceptions to the rules and Dad is a tough guy. I wanted to run but need to stay close to a phone. Tonight when things had settled down Bino and I went to the pool at the club. I can't swim but would like to, I got a swim board and kicked around for over 30min. I'm going to find an instructor when things settle down next week. Tomorrow I was hoping to swim but I'm going to catchh a plane to Ohio to see for myself how things are going.

FRIDAY THE 13TH

Today was one of those days that you hope don't happen often. At work we had a 39 y.o. come in with back pain and found that she had a compression fracture of her spine from the spread of lung cancer. What a wonderful lady. She has 3 kids. Then this evening we got a call from my mother-in-law that my father-in-law was admitted, they found 2 brain tumors, and 1 tumor in the lung. My hubby is flying back to Ohio in the AM. Hopefully things are better than they sound.

HUBBY TO THE RESCUE

SPIN: 60 MIN / AVE H.R.=150 / MAX H.R.= 171

When I left work at 4pm today, my plan was to get a few things done at home the spin from 6-7 with Mary. I got home at 430 and then it began. Bino was cutting the front yard ran out of gas in the middle. Hooch needed picked up from cheer. Supper needed to be made. It is going to be 30 tomorrow and Bino has no long pants that fit for school. I need to go to the drycleaners. It just kept going to the point that in my menopausal life -I just got pissed. I called Hubby at work and he listened patiently to my ranting. He called back told me to go to spin-he would deal with things. I changed my clothes and went. By the time I got home, everything was taken care of . I was in a much better mood and had White Castle waiting for me in the microwave. You can't get much better than that.

The spinning class was a great workout. I got my HR monitor in the mail so I was able to use it again. We did a mixed terrain workout which include some fast flts into hills.

FLEXIBILITY-NO TRAINING

TUES / WEDS : ZERO

Tuesday was a planned off day. I help with a Y-Me Breast Cancer support group at the hospital. The meeting goes from 6-730 and I hoped to get something in afterword. It actually ended at 810pm and that was gently helping the ladies to the door. I hate to do that but I had already been at work for 12 hours. There were 9 survivors tonight and we talked about alot of good things.
Today , I got off work at noon but I met up with my husband to take him to pick up his car which was 90 min. away. By the time I drove there- got lost-then drove home,it was 5pm and time to pick up Hooch from cheerleading. She brought a friend home. Her boyfriend stopped over with his friend. I then made dinner. It was only chili dogs and mac & cheese. Before i knew it ,the time was 8pm. I was exhausted. No running tonight.

I have been eating better this week so it isn't all bad. Tomorrow , I am going to spin. It will be a good workout because Mary is back from Moab.

BOSU #1

BOSU : 60 min.

I've been looking for another option on Mondays to YOGA. Tonight , I tried BOSU. I think I got alot out of it. The class was fast paced so I had to learn and do at the same time. Also ,I am not coordinated and balanced at all so it made it a challenge. The instructor stopped and laughed with me SEVERAL times. I have to agree -I looked comical. This is a good chance to work on balance and core in phase 1 of my marathon training.
I found out that I have misplaced my HR monitor so I've ordered a new one. I'm going to start watching that on my workouts also.
Today also began my phase 1 diet. I've weighed in but I'm not telling what it is. But I will update when I do have a lose.

HOMECOMING WEEK COMPLETE

SAT : RUN: 30MIN.
SUN: SPIN : 60 MIN.

Homecoming week for my kids is finally complete. Between bonfires, football games, decorating, and the dance -there has been little extra time. My daughter would tell me if I would let her get her liscense it would be easier on me. I don't think so!

There is now 30 weeks until the marathon. My weight is going up instead of down. I went to the store today to get my diet in order. I actually think it's more eating the right foods. I also bought a book on how to swim. I really would like to learn. (Maybe do a tri) but I'm not ready to say that yet. This week I hope to pick it up alittle in training.
