SUNLESS SATURDAY

RUN: 2HRS/ TREADMILL/ 8.0 MILES/ AVE HR 136/ MAX 175


Another grey ,ugly , rainy day . Temp only around 40. I headed for the gym beacuse I knew I needed a 2 hr or 8 mile workout. I knew I could get it in on the treadmill. I felt good except alittle tired at 90 min.

When I run at the gym for that long ,I go to the treadmills off to the side. The advatages are close to the restroom, tv's and overlooking the personal training area for entertainment. There are always a variety of people working out. I also like to watch the faces of the trainers as they help people.

GREY, RAINY--IN TO SPIN

Due to crappy weather -I went to the gym for Cindy's spinning class. The music really was bad. I just sort of zoned out and made my own hard workout. I did alot of resistance practicing for hills. Unless it's absolutely inevitable I'm not doing her class again.

TAKIN' IT TO THE STREETS

RUN: 3 MILES/ NO TIME

Change in the plan again. I was going to go spinning tonight and run tomorrow. Time for weather check. No rain tonight -high wind advisory tomorrow. Switch plan. Ran before the rain came.

I need to gain some confidence for Galena next week-end. I don't think I'm near as ready as I should be. But it's all on the learning curve.

Y-ME

ZERO-NO TIME

Tonight, our Y-me group had a speaker and author Beverly Kirkhart come. She was an author for Chicken Soup and My healing Companion. She was wonderful. It' amazing that she lost everything -found out that she had breast Ca and has become such an inspiration. Unfortunately I had no time left to run. The rest of the night didn't go so well. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

RUNNER'S TROTTS



RUN: 3.O MILES /NO TIME/ EMERGENCY PITSTOP

I don't know how many other people have to deal with the runner's trotts. I do usually between 2-3 miles. I read somewhere it has to do with your caffiene intake.(I do drink 4-6 cans of diet dew a day) But when you feel the rumbling it's not long after til you have to pull over.

Dakota ran with me. It was a beautiful evening. I'm still having the allergy thing with my eyes. I also cut the grass when I got home.That didn't help.

Week game plan:
Monday Run 3mile (30-40 min)
Tuesday Run 3 miles- (30-40 min) treadmill-y-me meeting
Wednesday Spinning- 60 min.
Thursday Cycle or spinning 60 min
Friday Off
Saturday Run 8 miles -5:1 ratio
Sunday Cycle- 60 min- MTB at Waterfall Glen

DAY AFTER REFLECTION

CYCLE: EASY/ 30 MIN./MTB

Looking back on yesterday -I realized how much I have to learn and the respect I now have for multisport athletes. Being a penguin runner at heart it is hard to grasp some of the intensity the others have. I still believe it's about getting to the line.

Today I biked about 30 min with my husband and the legs felt good.

I am alittle worried about Galena on the 20th(3 run/ 16.9 cycle/ 4.4 run) Very hilly area. But at least not on the trails.

Thoughts on future training:

  1. Continue spinning 1-2 days per week.
  2. Up the run mileage. never less than 3-4 during the week, 10-13 on weekend
  3. Practice smoothing out the transition.
  4. add some core strength training
  5. Lose 10-15 more lbs.
