WEEKEND PREPARATION

OFF/REST

Today is a rest day. the weekend run is 4 and 1/2 hours. I know I have said it probably a million times but I'm just trying to get it to sink in. I may check the mileage but I will only look at it at the end.
For my long run -I need to go to the grocery. My list-smart water, bananas, bagels and gushers. I have my energice in the freezer. I will probably run it on Sunday.

DAKOTA-0 WADDLER-1

RUN/ 2MILES / NO TIME

On my shorter runs, unless it is very hot, I take my golden retreiver,Dakota. Last night was a pleasant evening so off we go. He was really fired up. The first mile is always tough for me but with him pulling it was worse. By the second mile , I was pulling him. I relaxed and sort of pushed. When we rounded the corner to home, I was the winner on this night.

Time for a little rest tommorow with the long run of 4 and 1/2 hours this weekend.

I'M BACK

RUN: 25 MIN. / 2.0 MILES

I feel much, much better today even after a dentist appointment. First mile was slow but then really was able to pick it up. I'm between recovery and a long run this weekend so I don't want to overdo it.
I think I'll run again tomorrow then decide on Saturday or Sunday for the weekend.

NEED TO RECOVER

Elliptical: 20 minutes

Yesterday afternoon, boom it hit! Quad soreness. I've never had it to this extreme before. I guess today will be an off day. I need to continue training well for the marathon but I also need to recover. Only 39 days until my next 1/2 which is three weeks before Chicago. I hope I slow it down enough not to be sore.

This weekend is a 4 and 1/2 hour run. Remember LONG SLOW DISTANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

GREAT WEEKEND

ORN: CHICAGO DISTANCE CLASSIC/13.1/2:54:55/PACE 13:20/5:1

What a great weekend! I knew it would be good but who would have that it would be so much fun. From shopping to eating to running and eating again, it was awesome.
The run was alittle hotter than I would have liked. I started out the first mile a little quick bu settled into a nice pace. The 5:1 ratio worked well and alot of people around me were doing the same. I was tired the last mile and the hill before the finish seemed huge but when I came around the corner and saw DeeDee and Lauren -I felt great! Today I will bike or elliptical to loosen the quads.
