PERSPECTIVE
Today's weather continued to be extremely hot and humid. Even though it was 90 outside the humidity put the heat index over 100. I waited until the sun was setting to run. As bad as last night's workout was today was amazingly better. I ran 4 miles. It felt ok. With the way the weather was, I did not pay any attention to my pace. My goal was only to complete my run. This I did achieve.
Everytime that I doubt myself or have a day like yesterday, I have a day at work that re-adjusts my perspective. This was one of those days. One of my patients that I treated today was 40 and a very active person. They recently found out that they have a cancer in their spinal canal from top to bottom. Without treatment they will be paralyzed. When I look back at how whiney that I was with a short workout, I feel embarassed compared to what this person is facing. I take for granted how lucky that I am to be able to get out and run or bike. Thanks for the reminder not to take life for granted.

We are so Blessed with health and the gift of movement!
Thanks for this posting and helping us focus on being grateful.
I am thankful every day. It helps to remind people though that we are the lucky ones, no matter how difficult our days might seem sometimes.
A little perspective is so great sometimes! Glad you are feeling better today!
My son was talking about good luck yesterday. His girlfriend believes that we are each born with a basket of luck and people who win the lottery are just using up their basket faster.
I thought about my luck and I looked at him and said "we are lucky - very lucky. We are all healthy" And that's the truth - being healthy is a lucky thing.
Good job finishing your run in the heat. That takes determination.
Glad you had a good run after the ugly one.
Perspective is a good thing...thanks for being there to care for that patient.
This weather has been oppressive for sure. It's nice to be reminded that there are more important things in life.
Great tattoo!
Good luck this weekend!
Good job on your 4 miles. I ran at midday today and slowed down too. I think that's the smartest way to run in the heat.
Just when we we're about to complain about the weather, traffic, taxes, or running, it puts life in perspective. Bless you for your caregiving.
