TRI OR DU ?

There is less than 5 days until Galena. Water temperature is up to 59 degrees. If the water does not go over 60 , they will cancel the swim and make it a duathlon. The next update will be tomorrow morning. I am watching with mixed emotions.

After a 9 hours of training last week, I'll back things down this week. My legs have been tired. My plan for the week:

Monday: 3 mile run (pm)
Tuesday : swim (am) / bike(pm)
Wednesday: 3 mile run (pm)
Thursday : swim (am)
Friday: short bike (am)/drive to Galena.

Waddling into a taper week..............

Not knowing would drive me insane. Hope you are okay with it either way.

I hope that you get whatever outcome that you want most. Good luck.

I don't get it. 59 is cold but that's what wetsuits are for! 63 is very comfortable in a wetsuit. 60 is fine.

Fingers crossed that you get to do a Tri.

I hope it works out the way you want it to! I think you will be happy with a tri...you have worked hard in the pool!

I can give you a little hint of experience (Kevin's not mine) I think in all the years he has been doing Galena (4 or 5) he always recalls somehow the water, like some miracle of God, has always been at temp. He recalls swimming in that water one time with little ice formations floating in the water, but somehow the thermo.they used to measure water temp was 64 degrees :o) - I think it would be one heck of a mess for them to have to make it a complete duathlon. I'm really not ready but it is what it will be. I think my bike will be better than last year, its the run!
