I remember the feeling when I was in school that at the beginning of the semester it seemed like forever until finals. Then time flew by and before you knew it -it was time to cram for exams. Those emotions of cramming are coming to surface this week for me. Especially the part where I am unable to sleep and sit still.

With only 3.5 weeks until Steelhead , I am analyzing every workout. Two weeks will be tapering. So that leaves me with only 10 days of training. Four of those days are weekends. Those days will be crammed with longer workouts. 6 of those days are work days with limited time. I feel like I am not quite ready. Panic is hitting. If I just had 2 more weeks or even 1 , I would feel better. Isn't that always the case though?

Now I have gained confidence that I will finish. Now my obsession has turned to the cutoff times.
Course Cutoff Times
Swim: 1-hour & 15-minutes from the start of the last swim wave.
Bike: 5-hours & 15-minutes from the start of the last swim wave.
Run: 8-hours from the start of the last swim wave.

I found a tri-pace calculator and I will be close. It really will come down to the conditions of the day.
Waddling to cram............

just catching up with yoru Blogs...

So happy to know how great a time you had with your Dad!! He looks great. Glad that was so special!

The angst is very normal...it all sounds so very, very familiar. I suspect there is a good part of it that is productive...adding focus for you.

Your training is on track...trust your training. it will work. Know the marks you need to hit, timewise, and then focus on the positive aspects of hitting them!

You'll be there...keep it up over the next 10 days!

YOU WILL MAKE IT! I agree with Joe--your training is on track and you'll be able to do it. Believe me, the race is much easier than the training.
The crowd, your emotions, and adrenaline will help get you to the finish line in a great time!
I'll be praying for you!

Don't even go to the cut-off times. You have to focus on the positive. You have done the training-now the rest will take care of itself!

Ditto to SWTRIGAL! Don't focus on the worst case scenario. Run the race in your mind and visualize what you are truly capable of doing. Believe me, the cut off times are longer than you think. Just take your time, stay nourished and say relaxed. It's nobody's race, but yours!

I have total confidence in you. I know you can do it!! And stop looking at those cutoff times because that is irrelevant in your case :)

I started thinking the same things before my Oly tri. I wanted more, more, more time. BUT you have trained and you will be ready!!

I'm going through the same thing right now, worrying about getting all the workouts in and making the cutoffs. Everyone keeps saying I'll make it, but of course I worry about that. I'm glad to see they've added 15 extra minutes to the cutoff time this year. That will definitely make a difference for me. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I am not going to finish under 8 hours.

I wish the best of luck to you at Steelhead! I'll be tackling my first HIM in October at the Longhorn 70.3. I will look forward to reading your race report because my father only lives a few hours drive from there and I have thought about doing Steelhead next summer.

You can do this....focus on one thing at a time.

You'll manage those pesky cut offs like no one's business!
