5K FROM THE OTHER SIDE

ZERO

Today I volunteered for a 5K. It was done by our hospital to raise money in memory of Mark Staehley. He was a 17 year old who passed away recently from a neuroblastoma. He was diagnosed when he was 12 and gave it a hell of a fight. Mark's concern after his first stay in Children's hospital over Christmas was that all of the children have presents. He raised an ave of 20k every holiday for this. This race yesterday raised 12,000 to keep that going.

I worked in registration then headed out to diect runners on the course and cheer. A friend of mine from work was running her first 5K. I saw her heading to the finish and she looked great with a big smile on her face! It brought back alot of memories of firsts and also the joy of running for pleasure.

After the race-I went home and my Hooch (my 16 yo daughter) and I headed shopping for a homecoming dress. Running a marathon is easier. After 2 hours we decided on a color, the at 5pm finally bought a dress!

Hope to get a run in tomorrow- 6 days unitl my half.

PIG FACT OF THE DAY: The largest pig on record was a Poland-China hog named "Big Bill." He weighed a portly 2,552 lbs and was so large that he dragged his belly on the ground. He had a shoulder height of 5 feet and a length of 9 feet.

Ah Homecoming.... around here it is huge. The school has an entire week of activities from 'mock rock' to water games. This is my first non Homecoming year since 1997 *sniff sniff*

I love looking at large pigs at the state fair but I'm afriad a 5' tall pig that weighed over a ton would just scare me!
