HALF A CENTURY!!!

1956-On this day 50 years ago , I was born in Columbus ,Ohio. My birth mother was an unwed and 19. She gave me up for adoption to some nuns in Cinncinnati. My parents came and got me when I was 7 weeks old. They took me in to their loving home on Sidney, Ohio.

1966- I am 10 years old and in the fifth grade. My grandmother lived just 4 blocks from school and I ate lunch with her everyday. She fell in the summer and broke her hip. She never came home from the hospital. In the fall, we moved to a new house and away from my friends in the neighborhood. It was a tough year.

1976- I am now 20 years old. I've graduated from x-ray school and working at a hospital in Springfield , Ohio. I've been married for a year. This is the 70's so our weekends are spent partying and going to the bars. It was a wild time in my life.

1986- I am now 30 years old. My marriage sucks. My husband is still partying while I've grown up. He is a runner and gotten me involved in running also in a club. I ran my first half marathon on my birthday (1:58). I thought I was so slow. I am also still at the the same hospital now doing CT scanning. My husband does not want kids and it is becoming a big problem.

1996- I've gotten divorced(1987) and remarried(1989). My husband is wonderful. We have a daughter and son(Hooch and Bino). We now live in New England. We just bought a log cabin in the country. My mother passed away in 1991 and I miss her. My father is doing great. He and his friend Dot drove up to our house to celebrate my birthday. I am not working but looking for a part time job . I applied at Walmart to be a greeter but they said I was overqualified. I am not running anymore.

2006- I am still married to the same wonderful man. Both of my kids are in high school. We moved from New England to Cleveland to Chicagoland because of my husband's promotions. I work as a lead radiation therapist in a cancer care center which I love. Everyone that I work with are my family. I am running again. I've completed the Chicago marathon twice, 6 half marathons, 3 duathlons, and some 5 ks. I'm heavier and slower and older. My dad is 84 and still with Dot. My inlaws are doing great. I feel that after a half of a century-my life has the best of everything.

Happoy Birthday Dear Kaaaayyyyyy...
Happy Birthday to you!

Remember - never older, always better. Have a great day!

I never thought of summarizing my life by decades but it seems like a good idea. I'll have to try it.

Happy Birthday!!! I laughed at your "slow" sub 2-hour half-M. You sound so together. Welcome to the 50s. :-)

Loved your decade by decade post! Happy Birthday to you! Sounds as if you are happy and healthy and still in love and have two great kids! What more could you ask for?
(Except that maybe our knees don't hurt when we run???)
Best of the 50th year to you!
