UNDER THE WEATHER

CHRISTMAS EVE: RUN: 45MIN. TREADMILL

This cat expresses exactly how I feel. On Saturday, I developed sneezing, fever, body aches, and sore throat. I tried to ignore it. But it continued and continues to get worse. On Christmas eve, I headed for the gym for spin class but went at the wrong time. So I headed for the treadmill for a 2 hour run that stopped at 45min. I just couldn't do it. I think everything has just caught up with me.

My mother in law is here. I love her to pieces and feel bad that I am under the weather. My hubby has been doing the cooking which he is great at. The best news is that my M-I-L is moving from Cleveland to Illinois. She is there alone since dad passed away on Thanksgiving. She is a wonderful lady and it will be great to have her closer.

I think training is halted for now.

Waddling while sneezing..........

I'm so sorry that you're sick. Definitely back off a bit -- better to whip this immediately than try to train through it and have it drag out. I'm sure your MIL understands! Yay that she is moving here. :)

Feel better soon.

Take heart Ms. Waddler. When I'm sick I remind myself of the info I once read. You are at your strongest shortly after recovering from a cold/illness. Your immune system has just kicked into high gear and your body has just completed a big fight and won. Your physical ability increases because of this. Other thing is you were just forced into a taper. A little taper now and then is good for us. Even when there is no race next week.
Now I don't know whether all that is really true or not, but a little positive psychology never hurts.

Take the time off now and get better so it doesn't haunt you later. You still have 5 months to train for that marathon, so a few days off shouldn't hurt. Not fun being sick on Christmas.

IT seems as if everyone is suffering from some sort of ailment. I hope you are feeling better.
