IN A QUANDRY
With everything that has been happening in my life recently, training has become non-existent. There has been no time or energy for it. That puts me in a situation of reassessing my goals and schedule. Next weekend, I will be out of town volunteering at IM Kentucky- so no training again. One other huge pieceof information is that my kids homecoming weekend is the same weekend as USAT Nationals that I was shooting for. The last thing I want to do is miss that experience.
All that brings me to a point - with nothing else on for the year except a half marathon - what to do training wise? The half is in 4 weeks and is just a chance to go home to see my dad and r.un a fun half. I do have the miles in to make it but certainly not a PR or a chance to train for one. Is my season over or do I reset my sites on something else. The last DU of the year is in October but last year only had 29 people. Any ideas are appreciated.
Anyone want to meet up in Louisville that would be great. While I am there I will have the laptop nearby to post post and info on any bloggers that I see!
Waddling with no destination.................

We can do some light training together in Louisville if you'd like. I would love to have the company. I also have something for you so i would like to see you before the race. I'll email you now...
I was just going to say that maybe someone you meet up with in Louisville will be in for some easy running...and I see Mary Sunshine posting about light training. So there you go!
I'm hoping to do a duathlon here in Michigan on Oct. 13. Does that work for you? I think its in the Kalamazoo area: look up 3 Disciplines and check their calendar for October. I figure its a way to get some extra running practice in and still get in a bike ride. I can't remember your schedule for IMKY, but I am hoping to do a short run after the race starts. I have to pick up one of the guys' wife at the airport at 11:00, so am figuring I have a little time. How does that work for you?
Fundamentally, you have to ask if you want to run or do a duatholon. That will trigger the race search.
The half in Ohio is a great start...just go enjoy it.
There is certainly no lack of decent races in the Chicago area all fall but I can't speak for the du-s. Maybe you think of a bike-only ride??
As you say, it is useful to have something "out there" to be shooting for, indeed.
Have fun working at the triathlon! I'm looking forward to reading about your experience. Make sure you bring a camera and (unlike me) check to make sure the battery is charged.
I ran all winter last year. With the severe cold we get in Minnesota, the longest races were 5K, but it kept me running. I also ran with a group training for Boston, and although I wasn't running a marathon, the workouts--especially the speed workouts--were helpful to me.
Perhaps plan to do some smaller events, just to keep things fun, like 5k's? After October, that my plan of action, 5k's, then joining a local track club in January 2008.
Take care. I know you'll find something to keep on going!
Waddler, there will be plenty of training opportunities in Louisville.
I see you're coming in on Friday evening. If you send me a note with your pertinent details, I'll send back a contact list of all who will be there. We have plenty of little events planned, including a blogger team picture you have to be in.
And it's good to see you have your priorities straight. Family has to come before training if it can't be flexed around.
