MILESTONE

It is 5:30am when I roll into Master's swim. Coach is just putting up the workout board. I am relaxed because Thursday is the easier day of the week. I jump in get my 300 warm-up done then do 300m of drills. Now it's time for the main set.

Coach comes over to my lane and stops me. Waddler, you are going to be doing something different. It's time for you to swim a straight 1600 now. I wanted to jump out and run. the panic began to set in. This was truely a reality check.

I pushed off and away I went. I tried just to relax and focus on my form. It seemed like I was going back and forth forever. I was okay. I was doing it. Coach would be at the wall encouraging me. I never felt like stopping. I would see the other lanes taking their rests but I kept going. I suddenly realized only 2 laps to go. I am going to make it.

I did 1600m without stopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I jumped out to get a big high 5 from coach. What a thrill!

Waddling with a swimmer's high..................

That's awesome! And guess what, the rest is easier. Getting from zero to 1500 yards is the big job. Now, you'll find yourself making big leaps.

Congratulations on hitting that mile mark.
