HOPE DIMMING

Today, the latest water temp. update from Galena was 53 degrees. It went down 2 degrees. I think the chance of my first Tri being 10 days away is dimming quickly. I have done the duathlon there the past 2 years but finally learned to swim to do the Tri.

Actually , I am not too upset. I could use a few more weeks of swimming under my belt. This mornings swim went really good. I am finally getting this bilateral breathing thing I think. I also think someone put a thinner in the water because over the weekend it was like swimming in pudding.

Tonight's workout ended up to be a 60min. spin class.

Waddling into Wednesday.............

Bummer! If the water temp doesn't improve, I hope you find another tri soon or at least as chance to practice OWS soon.

And this weekend here its supposed to be in the 30s again, so I'm sure you'll be getting some of the same. Better to have a couple more weeks. Cold water only makes it harder.

Would it be awful to say, I'm selfishly glad the water is too cold? It will be cool to get to know you a bit better at the du start line..

And your first OWS in freezing water is hard, well first OWS period. I think my first was in Lake Michigan and it might have been about 65 degrees - everything I learned about swimming in those months went out the window that day. Putting your face in water that cold just takes your breath away.

You can always sign up for the Salt Creek Triathlon in Palatine (might be called Twin Lakes and its put on by Salt Creek Park District), its at the end of June

the weather will be what the weather will be...and it's been a cold spring.

You'll handle it either way.

So much for global warming then, hmm?
Maybe they can shorten the swim if it reaches say 55...!? Good luck with deciding what you and the race directors want/need to do!

Man, that is not even an option here (sort of wish it was-LOL). The question here is if it will even be wetsuit legal. SIGH
