DETOX : DAY 1

Today was the first day of turning around sugar overload. I realized that I was in a bad place yesterday after having to run to McDonalds for Sweet Tea after my run. It wasn't that I just drove by and thought it would be nice to stop. The fact was I drove out of my way to get it because of an overwhelming craving. I felt like an addict that needed sugar.

So today was Detox Day 1. I began trying to eliminate as much sugar from my diet as possible. By the afternoon, I was going nuts. Tonight the craving continued. Maybe just something small. But so far so good. I wonder how many days until I notice a difference.

I need to change the subject.

Yesterday was my first day of Chicago Marathon training. The options for week one was 5,7,or 9 miles. I went with the 5 since I had raced on Saturday. The legs were tired but not bad at all. My biggest question was which pace group to train with. I opted for the 11:30 per mile group. The goal is to do your long runs at the pace you want to do the marathon. I just hope to break 6 hours but at that pace I would run a 5:02 Marathon. I will just take one week at a time.
Waddling and trying not to think about sweets...........

I just had to have one. I know your pain with the sugar detox. It's woven into everything we eat and drink. Good luck. AGH! You can do eet.

Cutting out sugar and white flour was the best thing I ever did diet wise. I allow myself the occasional chocolate though, just to not let myself feel deprived..

I've known several people who cut out sugar, and once they got past the first couple of weeks, it was OK. I'm pondering doing something similar.

Hang in there.

You have been tagged!

I normally don’t do them either, but this one is good. Go to my blog for the questions, and then copy the questions into your blog.(not the answers though, you have to come up with your own unique ones)!

I've just tagged you for another meme. This one is about running. I don't know if you've done this one before. Check out my blog (6/10/08) for details. It got me thinking...

Cutting sugar out is tough. Hang in there. I've read an interesting book on sugar, Sugar Blues, that is a *little* over the top in some ways, but it did get me to cut back dramatically on sugar intake and read my labels more closely. It's in so much stuff.
