LAST ENTRY

Today was my last big workout until Steelhead. I can't believe it.

The weather was a perfect 62 degrees this am. I couldn't decide between 8 or 10 but decided since I was adding on a swim to go shorter. I ran the first 4 with my friend Nancy who was running 12 in training for the Chicago Marathon. It was great to have her to chat with. I averaged around a 12 minute pace.

After the run, I drove back and headed for the pool after a transition at Burger King. I was so hungry that I just needed a hamburger. I ate it on the way to the pool. I felt good and added some faster 25's.

Looking at the week ahead this will be my hardest week in training. I am sure that I am like everyone else who hates to taper. I have no choice but to trust in my training. Nothing will prepare me anymore at this point.

Waddling to make the last big entry in my training log and take a deep breath..........

One of the central lessons in all of this is you MUST trust your training...and learning to trust it, modify it, pay attention to it and then relax with it is what you do.

You do the same with your radiation therapy training, right?? Same thing for the tri!!!

Relax...enjoy the week...the hay is in the barn. It's all gonna happen now!!!

Congratulations! You've done all the hard work. You will surely rock at Steelhead. Enjoy the taper, and KNOW that you will race better because of it.

(Now, I have to convince myself of this all the time, even KNOWING that it works!)

Have a great week!

Good Luck at your race. You will do fine. It's hard, but somewhat of a relief to start tapering. It gives your body a chance to rest up for the big day :)

You are going to do GREAT at Steelhead. You'll be rested and ready to go (thanks to that dreaded taper!)

Hang in there and enjoy "relaxing".

Trust your training. Take the taper. The hard work is done. Your body needs rest. Soon you get to enjoy the moment at the race. I'll be rooting for you from NM. :)
