I haven't written much because I have been so totally obsessed with the Olympics. The opening ceremonies were spectacular. I can't imagine that if we get the Olympics in Chicago in 2016 that we could surpassed that. I have been watching sports that I have never watched before.

I have been such a hungry hippo lately. I know that my appetite increases with training but it is unbelievable. If I am not eating, I am talking about food. Last time I trained for Chicago Marathon, I gained 8 lbs. I hope it doesn't happen again.

On the topic of Chicago marathon, it is only 8 weeks away. Yesterday was a cutback long run of 10 miles and I felt good. This Sunday , my long run is up to 15 miles. My legs are still tried from Steelhead but they are starting to come back.

Waddling to watch beach volleyball...............

Well you know what running 15 miles in one day feels like! And after a 56 mile bike too! I'm betting you'll pull that off with no problem.

...and if you're not talking about food, you're thinking about food, and if you're not thinking about food, your asleep and dreaming about it... been there, sistah!

Good to hear from you. Glad you're enjoying the olympics. Me too! I'm definitely staying up too late!

About being hungry--isn't that something? When I trained for my last (first) marathon, I also gained weight. When I started training for half IM's, I also gained weight. And in the 10 months I've been training for the IM, I haven't lost a pound.

This seems to be a women's issue. Most men I know become anorexic looking when they train harder. They eat more, and get really skinny. How/why does this happen? I personally think it has to do with hormones and body fat issues (women are made to have more than men). It could also be that we (women) tend to not eat enough. This slows our metabolism and our body actually "hangs on" to the fat we have.

Enjoy the rest of your training and the olympics!

Sadly, I have only found time to watch a tiny bit of it. I have a lot of taped Olympics to get to.

It's amazing all of the sports that are out there! I love watching the Olympics! I can't wait for Track and Field!

I gained about 10 pounds with my first marathon! This last marathon I trained for (the one I didn't run in) I did better and didn't gain any weight. I didn't need as many carbs as I first thought.

At work we always talk about food. The first question of the day is always about lunch... LOL

Have a wonderful week!

I'm recording tons of Olympics and then watching them in too-many-hours blocks of times. I love it 'cause I can FF through the sports I'm not all that interested in. Who knew there was so much Volleyball, btw?

I'm also watching the olympics. For some reason this time I am hooked on the Judo...
About the eating... did you know that Michael Phelps eats 12000 calories a day and has 12 eggs for breakfast...
So, I guess you can't be doing to badly...

I'm curious about the Chicago marathon and will look for your report.

I'm also wondering if you'd take a short survey I'm doing of triathletes for my book? You can find the link here. http://www.ironmakeover.com/survey.html

I also adore the Penguin's books.
Nice blog!
