This photo expresses my thoughts about my 15 mile run today. It started off fine as I ran with Snips. Our pace was close to 11:00/mile. It was alittle fast but not bad. We ran on the Prairie Path a new direction and it was very shady. We got to the 7.5 mile mark to turn around and both of us felt OK. The all my train cars started falling off the track. My stomach was rolling. My right ankle began to hurt. Mentally ,I was beginning to crack. We got mile 12 where our running club had a stop with Gatorade. It was empty. I was feeling crappier by the minute. Snips was running good so I told her to take off. The final 3 miles were a mixture of walking, running and cussing. I made it but it wasn't pretty. I felt like a train wreck.

We all have those days. I know they are not all like that.

Waddling to kick my feet up.................

Some days you are the dog and some days you are the hydrant. Sounds like you already know that.

It was really rude of your run club not to keep the aid station open until all runners came through. That wouldn't happen in my run club.

You know there are always bad days. That you made it through will only serve to make you tougher, both mentally and physically.

I'm sure the next run will be much better. Have a great one!

Bummer of a day...makes you appreciate the good days all the more.

And adds toughness for the marathon.

Way to hang in there!!

I'm sure you're still recovering from Steelhead. Think about it -- would you typically run 15 miles on a long run a mere 2 weeks after the longest (timewise) event of your life? Probably not!

You're also most likely upping your running mileage across the board.

I think you did great! To get to 12 before you crap out is not that bad! :)

Nice job! Cut yourself some slack! You'll get your running legs back.

But I bet you're happier now having finished!! Way to stick it out even when you were feeling miserable.

Good to get that out of the way BEFORE your race, right? And I have been there, done that, not only with bad runs that start out good, to having the water stops being completely abandoned. Sometimes that helps you rely only on yourself in getting from point A to point B, pretty much what we have to do in a race anyway. Good learning experiences, if nothing else!
