LOCKER ROOM
I am always amazed. At what? People wanting to have long conversations with you in the locker room and their timing. Today, it was after my shower with just a towel on. She is in my master's swim class and we had just finished a good workout.
The discussion was about 2009 races and goals. She is new to the sport also but much younger in her 30's. Her goal to do several sprint tri's and maybe a couple of olympics. The rest of her goal is to win her age group in most and overall at least in one. She has the ability and certainly the confidence.
Next came my year. She wanted to know my goal for my Iron distance and I told her to finish. She was surprised that I did not expect more out of myself. Then came her comment --" You're not quite 60 yet are you?" followed by "I have heard it is hard to lose weight after the big 5-0"
It was then that I turned the hair dryer on to finish drying my hair. She just talked louder over the noise. Finally -she got the hint. I was not upset just amazed. Some people have no idea how what they say sounds.
House(Hubby) is having a good response the the trial neurostimulator. It looks promising.
Waddling on another cold day.....

Geeeez. Some people need to get a clue. I had a similar incident recently. Oddly the person started off by commenting about how uncomfortable it could be talking in the locker room...then proceeded to talk and talk and talk. But she never presumed to "know" my age. That would have been enough to make me want to strangle her with my towel.
Glad the trial is working well for hubby. :-)
She was lucky you didn't smack her with the hair dryer and say "Yea bitch and middle-aged women are grumpy too!"
I am fantasizing about kicking her ass for you..
:)
I try to avoid gym or locker room chatter as much as possible. The main reason is the distraction of getting done with what I'm doing. The second is for reasons like you mention--that some people just don't have a clue. Glad hubby is doing well. Glad your training is going well. Just wait until the 30 something is 50 something. I'm guessing her tune will change.
One day, she too will be 50 and beyond...if she is lucky!
I don't talk in locker rooms...and I am in the shower, dressed and out before the "chatty cathys" even start blow-drying their hair!
And that confidence about winning...well, when you are THAT blatant about it...it usually DOESN'T happen!
Oh and I am glad yo hear that Hubby is doing better!
Wow, I guess it's good that I usually dress in the shower stall and then head out of the locker room right afterwards. I wonder if that b*tch even realized what she was saying.
I could go on and on about pet peeves in the locker room, as could everyone I'm sure! What is it about the locker room that makes common sense and decency just vanish?
Sorry she's so young and clueless and verbal.
Good. Night.
Get a life, lady!! Talk about clueless!!!!
