DETOX
As per everyone's New Year ritual, it is necessary yo get on the scales and face the music as to what we have done to our bodies post-holiday. For me it me not pretty at all. Granted it was still 20 lbs. lighter than the beginning of last year but the additional 10 lbs. post Iron were irresponsible. I have metabolic syndrome so it is even more irresponsible.
I am on Day 2 of detox. For everyone this is different. For me it begins with getting sugar out of my system (daily McDonald's Sweet Tea) and cutting back on the diet Dew from 6-7 cans per day to 1-2. Also let's increase the water consumption. Did I mention no more fast food drive thru? Sounds simple but for me it will be a big challenge for the week.
Waddling and wishing for a sweet tea............

You're looking great and you will get back on track. I think it's good -- and necessary - to enjoy your off season and loosen up a bit. You'll burn out if you don't.
Good luck with the detox and hopping back on the nutrition bandwagon.
2010!
Congratulations on moving toward healthier eating.
We have truly enjoyed exploring the delight of a variety of fresh fruits and berries in place of sugar and flour for the carbs in our diet.
Coffee and tea (and water), with positive benefits have replaced soda.
Thanks for stopping by. I welcome catching up with you.
You are a strong woman: take care and best wishes!
I love that pic you found! I feel your pain...back on the mission, planning is the key which is where I struggle.
If only I had someone to cook for me.
You'll do it all just fine!
McDonalds has sweet tea? I quit going to McD's ages ago and I don't know what they have anymore. :) Perhaps it's just as well!
Have a great week.
You've isolated the task...and, man, it is tough in the cold, dark weather!! We all love our "comfort food" whatever that might be!!
Drive on by the FF emporiums... replace it with a big bag of baby carrots instead to munch on!!
I'm sure part of any weight gain after the IM was due to a much reduced workout schedule and more time to sit around and relax and eat. I usually like to do a 2-3 week detox diet every year to start it out right. But no matter how many times I do that, I always fall back to bad habits by the end of the year. It would be much easier just to maintain!
I hate facing the music sometimes.
Hang in there.
Kudos to you for the 10# you lost this year. I know a lot of folks actually gain weight when doing ironmans.
And best of luck with the detox. I'm trying to clean up my diet too now that my husband has started a new clean eating diet. Man, is it tough to cut out the sugar!
I am battling weight issues my self *sigh* as always. Thinking of you and your Iron badness, when every I want to bitch about speed work.
Small changes make a big difference and working toward eating fresh and healthier is always a huge challenge of mine. I'll be watching this closely and hope you get the results you're looking for, girl!! :)
