PHASE ONE BEGINS!

RUN: 30 MIN. / 13:10 AVE PACE

With the half this weekend, I offically ended my 2006 season. I had a couple of other race possibilities but just don't feel any motivation to do them. So it's on to the beginning of my marathon training which I am ready for.

Phase 1:

  1. From September 18 until Jan 1
  2. Weight loss 20 lbs.
  3. Focus on strength training
  4. Spin 2 minimum /week
  5. Keep weekend run at 90 min.
  6. d0 mid week run of 60 min at marathon pace.
  7. Do run training by time not miles.

Tonight, I ran 30 min. I tried to keep my pace around 13:00/mile. To break 6 hours in the marathon I need a 13:43 pace.

I am excited really excited about this. I felt my first marathon was a great experience. My second sucked because of my ITB. But ther is something that is just feeling right about this one.

PIG FACT OF THE DAY:In days gone by, sea captains kept pigs on board because they believed, should they be shipwrecked, pigs always swam toward the nearest shore.

Those sailors put an awful lot of faith in pigs!

Nytro who just lost 17 pounds without even trying (but while tri-ing) told me that she went to a sports nutritionist and it made the difference. You might want to try that, too. Apparently a dramatic increase in protein makes a big difference. I'm going to try it, too. Weight loss without effort sounds really good to me!

Your training plan sounds great!
