LOOKIN' LIKE XMAS
I actually am one of the few people who love this kind of weather. I love the freshness in the air when you are out. Do I run in it? NO, But I do go to Lifetime and get a treadmill by the window. I am sort of a wimp about being out there. I don't really mind the cold but it's all that slipping around that I do.
Today I was on the Runner's World Web site.(I had alot of patients cancel.) They have a training tool that gives you the different paces you should do your runs at for different finishing times and distance.
Here is what mine showed to run under a 6:00 marathon--
EASY RUN PACE= 14:27 MIN/MILE
TEMPO RUN PACE= 12:13 MIN/MILE
MAX O2 RUN PACE= 11:05 MIN/MILE
SPEED FORM PACE= 10:18 MIN/MILE
LONG RUN PACE= 14:27-16:06 MIN/MILE
YASSO 800'S PACE= 5:41 MIN/ 800
I have never seen this before. I really am going to try to stick to these and see what happens.
I am still researching heart rate information and training. I had a map test done. My AT is 168. Maximum fat burn is 135. I am setting up the rest of my zones.
Waddling through the snow to the weekend.......

Isn't it beautiful out?
Training in zones really works! I can tell you about it in person if you're interested. Bottom line: I trained with HR zones and cut almost 12 minutes off my 1/2 marathon time.
Did you do the test at LTF? Did you like it? Does it make sense?
Hi, first time to your blog. It caught my eye because I am probably about the same age as you and am, at present, a back of the pack person. I am into triathlons and last year was last at almost every race I did. I am working at improving. Good job on all your accomplishments! Where are you located? We got a bunch of snow yesterday too (Grand Rapids, MI). You must be somewhat close to the Midwest.
Vickie-I live near Chicago. I am a definite back of the packer and would be behind you so you wouldn't be last.
If nothing else, training to a set pace helps you learn how to pace and I believe it works. Apparently HR training also works but I have no first hand experience. I am too lazy to work all this stuff out. Maybe I'll give it another try.
Yeah, all that snow was rain on our racecourse in southern Indiana!! What a hoot!!!
We had a guy at the hotel next to us from Peoria who still had 6" of white stuff on top of his SUV after digging out of central Illinois. Amazing!!
