I ended up running at the gym tonight on the treadmill. When I had time to run after work, it was 92 outside. I wanted to run some pick-ups so off to the treadmill. I was about 19 min. into my workout when this really BIG guy got on the treadmill next to me. He said something-so I turned to see if he was talking to me. No! He was on his bluetooth. He began arguing loudly with what I assumed was his wife. I shot him a look of WTF- he ignored me and everyone else. I was not going to move and it fired up my workout. He was still yacking when I left. HOW RUDE!
RUN: 45 min / treadmill
10 min warm-up/ 5 x 5min. pickups / 10 min. cool-down

Unfortunately, its a sign of the times. My daughter told me about the woman at the gym the other day on a bike eating a bag of Cheetos, with a Coke in the water holder talking on her cell phone. Just why would you even bother??

Rude indeed. Unfortuneatly, there are no rules about bad taste.

And why are the people who do this always arguing? Never (it seems) a wonderful conversation about the joy of a new baby or a fascinating new job??

Glad you got some good running in, depsite the Big Dude...

Very annoying. But Vickie's daughter's experience is hysterical. Why bother, indeed!!??
Leave the equipment to people who take their health seriously.

I watched this comic once who talked about this. He said you should lean closer and closer and closer,as though you are obviously eavesdropping, until the person says, "may I have some privacy?" or, "this is a private conversation!" and then you say, "well, you can't have any privacy, because you see, you're in PUBLIC!"
