THE CLOCK IS TICKING

ZERO

Another tough day at work and I was just exhausted when I came home. Definitely a night to call for pizza. Thanks to 21st Century Mom for my new sidebar countdown clock. I guess it's game on for the PIG.

Looking to the weekend, I am volunteering at a 5k charity race on Saturday. I am excited. A friend at work will be running her first race. I am working at registration and on the course. This is the first time to be on the other side of the race so I'm excited. Sunday, my husbby and I are going to the Indy car race at Chicagoland if it doesn't rain. But I hope to still get a decent run in.

PIG FACT OF THE DAY:A pig's squeal can range from 110-115 decibels. Compare that to the Concorde jet, which is usually under 112 decibels.

SUNSET CRUISE

RUN: 30 MIN. EASY

After 2 chaotic days at work, I needed just some quiet time. The sun started going down and I grabbed Dakota for an easy run. My legs felt heavy tonight because of work I think. But I got it in.

The last 2 days at work have been so crazy because of a worm that got into the server in our Cancer Center and shut everything down including our Linear accelerator. It really sucked to cancel our patients treatments for 2 days but we'll work Saturday to get them in. I hope whoever did this feels really good about themselves, My 40 cancer patients did not get the treatments they needed.

Thank you 21st Century Mom-I'll install my countdown clock!

DIG DEEP INTERVALS

SPIN: 60 MIN.

I did make it to Mary's spin class tonight. We did intervals in 15 min. sections. Each time we took our heart rate from 70% to 90%. The 2 min recovery. I lost my HR monitor strap so I'm not sure exactly where I was at.

Great news about next week-end. My inlaws who I love are coming down to my dad's(Sidney,Ohio) from Cleveland to join us for dinner Saturday night for my 50th. I am so excited that the whole family will be there.

LAZY LABOR DAY

RUN: 30 MIN. / NO DISTANCE

Last night was our annual cu-de-sac party. It began at 5 with lots of good food and of course good drink. I made sangria with alot of fresh fruit. We ate, drank, and were very merry until after 10 when 2 police cars showed up . It then began to rain. It was time for us to head in anyway. But a good time was had by all.

This morning for some reason ,I slept in late. I finally got going this afternoon and took Dakota for an easy 30 min. run. I felt amazingly pretty good.

The new schedule came out for the gym. I am going to take a fitness yoga class on Mondays. I've never done yoga before so it should be interesting. Also my friend Mary is doing 3 spinning classes a week. She will certainly add some good workouts to my schedule.

FLYING PIG COUNTDOWN: 244 DAYS
PIG FACT OF THE DAY:Contrary to popular belief, pigs are unable to sweat; instead, they wallow in mud to cool down.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

SURVIVED : RUN / WALK 9.5 MILES / 2:30

The Good: I felt much better today. Anxious to get out for a run. I got up early and got a place in the parking lot. When running, pace comfortable at 12:30-13:00. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful day. It was sunny and 65. My lungs felt opend up and sweated the cold out of me. I finished 9.5 miles!

The Bad: After mile 7 -my legs totally bonked. No energy or fuel. I chose a loop route so it was 2.5 miles to the car.

The Ugly: I walked the last 2.5 miles. I'm worried about my half in 2 weeks. Why wasn't I a little smarter after being sick all week? Really ugly -all the stuff I coughed up that was in my chest.

I believe there was more good than anything else about today! Most importantly -I am back to the land of the living and enjoy a beautiful sunrise. No more excuses. Thanks for the well wishes.

STILL UNDER THE WEATHER

FRUSTATING ZERO

My cold is still hanging on. I still have a low grade fever. It sounds like I could cough up a fur ball at any minute. I'm sure last night sitting out at the football game didn't help but there was nothing going to change that.

I have the USAF half to run in 2 weeks and my training has sucked. I have alot of reasons ot want to run this but a PR is not one of them. The race is held at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton,Ohio. I worked at the Cancer Center there for 1989-1991. I was married and had my daughter during that time so there are alot of good memories. My father(I'm an only child) who is 84 lives near there so it's an opportunity to visit and he loves to come along to see the Air Force Museum. He has also planned dinner for me on Saturday night for my 50th birthday. Last year I ran this and was overwhelmed by the patriotism and sense of pride in the U.S.. Military come in from all over the world to run and compete against each other. I know I can make it the ditance, my time will be slow but this one is not about the time but all the reasons to appreciate each mile.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

Tonight was a big night. My kids go to a new High school. An tonight was the inaugural football game for the school. My daughter(Hooch) made varsity cheer her sophomore year. What a great evening. The stands were packed. The weather was perfect for football. My son (freshman) met up with a very pretty friend to enjoy the game with.

It brought tears to my eyes when the star spangled banner was played. I turned to my husband and saw that he was fogging up also. How many years I picture a night like tonight in my mind and it filled me with more emotions than I could have imagined. The team lost but the night was a win!
